Parks Department Meeting – April 20, 2012 Katy and Gordon met with Pete Saiz Parks Department to discuss:
- Yale Avenue: Albuquerque Underground cut power to Yale sprinkler systems when they were working on Lead/Coal so the Parks Department hasn’t been watering the trees and landscaping. Pete committed to filing a claim with Albuquerque Underground Inc. to get the damage repaired. In the mean time the Parks Department will water by hand twice a week until the automatic watering system can be operated automatically.
- Silver Avenue: Pete agreed to give SHNA the pre-emergent weed killer & a spreader so SHNA can treat the parkways and medians in February. The parks Department didn’t treat for weeds until mid-April this year even thought SHNA had repeatedly requested application by the end of February. Pete will also provide clippers so the SHNA can take over pruning small “sucker” shoots on the trees. There is one tree missing at 1805 Silver that Pete said he could get replaced.
- Gold – There are 6 missing trees on gold that Pete said he could get replaced.
Alley Cleanup: Katy reproted that Ernie Metzger will again be having the low risk prisoners cleaning the alleys in our neighborhood. They will be working May 17-18 and May 21-25. All alleys in our neighbor will be cleaned. They did a great job last time and several people thanked them for their work. Ernie reported that meant a lot to the worker so we are encourging you all to reach out and let them know we appreciate their work.
Lead & Coal Project Meeting: Tom Ocken reported:
Lead & Coal in the Huning Highland Neighborhood: There was significant discussion about how the project could make improvements on Lead & Coal in the Huning Highlands neighborhood between the freeway and Broadway. The sprinkler systems in this area are outdated and are operationally questionable. Landscaping can not be undertaken until the sprinkler system is repaired or replaced. The storm drains in this area have been repaired and returned to proper operation.
Lead & Coal Reconstruction Project East of I-40:
- New controllers for the sprinklers will be working soon
- Problems with services, which had not been pre-identified, at the corners of Lead/Coal and the freeway have caused delays in the project completion. This should be completed within the next two weeks.
- The street striping will be done after the manholes are leveled.
- Albuquerque Underground Inc. is taking claims for damages resulting from the Lead/Coal construction project.

These cans are more expensive than the normal trash cans.

Also it was reported that there were many noisy parties at some of the rental units that were going strong and loud after the 10:00 pm noise curfew. should also be reported.
