SHNA MEETING MINUTES –7/9/12

Board Members Present: Richard Braziel, Gordon Reiselt, Matt Sexton, Elizabeth Doak, Craig Wallace.  Attachment 1

Meeting called to order: 7:10 pm – Heavy Rain delayed starting time.

Mayor’s Neighborhood Forum: The Mayor is holding a forum for the leaders of Neighborhood associations on Saturday 7/21/12 from 8:30 am to noon.  Katy and/or Gordon will represent SHNA. RSVP is to dlutz@cabq.gov. Attachment 2

APD Appreciation Barbecue:  A contribution of $75.00 was approved by unanimous vote.  Elizabeth will get cash to bring to Gordon to give to Sandy Pino. This is the same amount donated last year. Attachment 3

Zoning:  

  • Lovelace EPC Application – At this time we are not aware of any objections from Huning Highlands Neighborhood Association. We will support the Huning Highlands Neighborhood Association in their decisions. Attachment 4
  • The Nob Hill Off-Street Parking for Restaurants and Bars Regulation has been deferred until Thursday 7/12/12.

Ike Benton:  

  • Ike Benton’s office is trying to set up a meeting between SHNA, the Zoning Department, and the Owners of 1502 Silver to ensure that all parties understand the final ruling regarding the maximum number of dwelling units permitted on this lot.
  • Ike Benton’s office is also setting up a meeting on the Yale Corridor landscaping with SHNA, the Parks Department, Don Hancock, and Morrow/Reardon/Wilkinson Landscape Archeticts who designed the watering system.  The watering system may have been damaged during the Lead/Coal Project and the City is currently watering the trees by truck.  The Parks  Department says they don’t have the money to fix the system.  This issue needs to be resolved quickly and the system needs to be returned to full operation.

National Night Out: Will be held Tuesday August 7th from 7:00pm to 9:00 pm. Rich will host food & drink on his front porch. Attachment 5

Neighborhood Newsletter:  The Neighborhood Newsletter for June and July 2012 is now available on line at http://www.cabq.gov/planning/nbrcoord/documents/JunJul2012.pdf

Lead/Coal Project:  The project has been completed.  What a great job and such an improvement in our neighborhood.  Our thanks go out to the City for all the work they did and the professional manner in which it was done.

University Landscaping Project: We were told that the University Landscaping would start soon after the Lead/Coal Project was finished.  Katy will call to determine the status.

Trees/Landscaping:  The City is moving to hire a contractor to perform the landscape maintenance throughout the city.  The parks department does not have the resources or expertise to do this work.

Board Meeting Minutes Approval:  The June Board Meeting minutes were approved unanimously.

Keep America Beautiful: Elizabeth is working with a contractor to design and build the Pilot Recycling Project Collection Bins.  It is moving forward.

Crime: Bill Cobb sent an email to Sandy Pino and asked for some help and it appears things have improved.  Thanks Bill for this and so much more.
