January Meeting Minutes: Approved with corrections
Councilor Isaac Benton: Ike visited to update us about the ongoing projects that impact Silver Hill Neighborhood.
- University landscaping from Central to Coal is approved and should start soon.
- Yale landscaping from Central to Coal is approved and in design.
- East Central Revitalization is using Gateway Planning Company to look at ways to increase tourism along Historic Route 66. This could involve encouraging the use of neon signs, advertising and more.
- East Central Bus Rapid Transit (RBT) is holding a public input meeting on 2/27/13 from 6:00pm to 8:00 pm and an all day working session on 2/28/13 at HeightsCommunity Center. Ike is pushing for elevated stops & off-bus ticket purchase options to speed the loading and unloading. Creating bump out and priority stop light access would also allow buses to go first at traffic lights.
- South Yale landscaping from Coal to Gibson is also moving forward.
Zoning Issues:
- Front Yard Parking: Gordon wrote a letter to the City about front lawn parking at 2119 and 2103 Silver SE. He also placed the SHNA approved note explaining why parking in the front lawn is illegal on the windshields of the offending cars.
- 2119 Silver is still parking on the front yard even though they received notice.
- 2103 Silver is not parking on the front yard any more since they received notice.
- 1502 Silver: Gordon sent the email from Nathaniel Sims to City Zoning and they said that nobody from the City had spoken to Mr. Sims as claimed in the letter. The City also said they are still working on the declaratory ruling.
- 1428 Silver: A historic project has been submitted for a new roof and Robert Stembridge is plan is to do a really good job on the restoration of his house.
- Lead/Coal Landscape Project from I-25 to Broadway has started.
