Approval of Minutes: to be done at next meeting (Katy forgot to print out copies.)
Parkways and medians on Silver, Gold, Lead and Coal: Katy has been talking to, meeting with, touring the neighborhood with, and e-mailing staff at the Solid Waste Department which is now responsible for repair and maintenance of these areas. Although a crew appeared to dig up and repair the watering system in parkways in front of 1600 and 1610 Silver over the past two weeks, nothing else has been done and several blocks are in dire straights. Katy sent an e-mail to Dan Humbles, Project Supervisor to inquire about the long list of needs and plans to meet those needs. If no response as of Wednesday, June 10th, James, Katy, and Craig will schedule a meeting with Councilor Benton and ask if Dan would like to come too.
APD: As planned at the May meeting, James thanked Commander Whisonant of the Southeast Command for the increased police presence in Silver Hill and at Roosevelt Park. There was also discussion about militarization of APD according to an article in the ABQ Free Press.
Historic Overlay Zone: We expressed our appreciation for Mary Ellen Hennessey’s attendance at our May meeting and for the card she subsequently sent out to all property owners in the HOZ. Attachment 2 Katy will call Mary Ellen this week regarding the following:
- Was the Colonial era door surround on 1924 Silver approved by her office? If not, what will be done about it?
- Early morning on Saturday 6/6/15 a wall was removed from the house at 1500 Gold SE. Was this a Saturday Morning Special stealth removal of a historic feature, or did the owner talk to MEH and get permission? No sign was posted indicating this had been approved.
- When will the HOZ booklet be ready so that we can schedule our workshop?
Development of the four blocks north of Presbyterian Hospital (Oak to Sycamore) and one block further north: James and Katy attended an initial meeting at Consensus Planning with Titan Development who has been hired by Presbyterian. Members of Sycamore NA and Spruce Park NA were also present. Anyone wishing to get more information can call or e-mail James or Katy. More meetings are forthcoming. Attachment 3
ABQ-Z:Elizabeth received notification about the City’s intention to overhaul the ABQ Comprehensive Zoning/Sector Development Plans. She downloaded the 60 page document prepared by an outside consultant. We believe it is important that Silver Hill become knowledgeable about this proposal and that at least one of us attend the meeting on June 23rd, 5:30 pm, location TBA. Elizabeth, Gordon and Robert might be able to go, but no one could make a firm commitment to be there.
